When The DPS Moira Carries Your Game: Yesterday, in a Top 500 lobby no less, the Overwatch 2 Twitch streamer harbleu and his chat witnessed a torturously slow battle between Moira players. Despite being a support character in Overwatch 2, Moira has drawn a lot of criticism from players for her relatively high and consistent damage output. However, Moira duels like this are almost unheard of in high-level competitive matches.
Even prior to the release of Overwatch 2, Moira’s infamous ability to deal relatively high damage with little to no aim has made the character something of a meme among fans of the sequel. Players have complained about Moira’s propensity to attack rivals rather than heal teammates ever since the character debuted in the original Overwatch, but many believe that the current shortage of skilled Moira players is due to the influx of new players who are still getting their feet under them.

During harbleu’s stream:
Harbleu was watching his teammates after a death in a Push match when he came across the DPS Moiras’ duel during yesterday’s stream as he continued his ascent to the Top 10 in the area. As Moiras from the opposing team and Harbleu’s team stand next to each other in a narrow alleyway, continuously draining each other of health while healing orbs bounce between them, maintaining the cycle and ensuring that each player is continuously healed, Harbleu’s cycle of facial expressions perfectly captures his reaction to the unusual play.
Harbleu had by this time respawned as the tank hero Wrecking Ball, but a replay of the Overwatch 2 match on the new map later showed the entire battle, with the Moiras hurling damage orbs in an effort to kill each other. The players were so focused on winning the battle that they each went so far as to simultaneously use their Ultimate power, coalescence. However, the streamer chose to enter the fight and use Piledriver to eliminate the opposing Moira rather than respecting the 1v1 situation.
The duel of the Moiras was recorded by several viewers. The extended clip received more than 36,000 views in just one day. The situation was found to be hilarious by viewers in the stream’s chat. Although no specific changes to Moira have been announced for the upcoming balance patch for Overwatch 2, it is perhaps not surprising that some players are advocating for changes to Moira’s damage output in order to better reward her potent healing abilities and lessen the appeal of the infamous DPS Moira playstyle.
